MORGANTOWN, W.Va., August 13, 2025— Monongalia County Schools is proud to announce outstanding results from the 2025 statewide assessments, reflecting the dedication of students, educators, staff, and families across the district.

In comparison to the 2024 results, Monongalia County achieved a 4% increase in Science, a 3% increase in English Language Arts (ELA) and a 3% increase in Mathematics. These improvements continue a trend of academic growth and underscore the district’s commitment to empowering excellence in every learner.

Monongalia also had the highest percentage of students at the “Exceeds the Standard” level in both ELA and Mathematics statewide, a testament to the district’s rigorous academic standards and strong instructional support.

Performance among high school juniors was particularly exceptional: 11th-grade students ranked first in the state in every subject tested, including ELA, Mathematics, and Science. The assessments were administered to students in grades 3–8 and grade 11, providing a comprehensive measure of achievement across the district.

Superintendent Campbell praised the achievement stating “These results are a celebration of the commitment to excellence shown by our students and staff. From our elementary classrooms to our high school seniors, everyone played a role in achieving these gains. We’re especially proud of our students who not only met the state standards but exceeded them.”

Monongalia County Schools will continue building on this momentum by focusing on learner-driven teaching practices, targeted student support, and impactful family engagement.
